I'll admit that I don't know all THAT much about women's gymnasts these days, but I'll go with Nastia Liukin. I got to see her bar set at American Cup and it was literally unbelievable.
Her start value is almost a full point above others in the meet and she still manages great execution. Anyone have other favorites?

Nadia Comaneci. She was like the original gymnastics superstar. I believe she made gymnastics as popular as it is today because she was so well liked. She transformed gymnastics as a fan sport on the 20th century.
I always like the powerful girls, Kim Zmeskal, Shawn Johnson, Mary Lou, Elena Prudnova, Chusovitina.....I couldn't pick just one. OK, maybe I could...Kim Zmeskal. Her '92 Olympic Trial vaults and floor were off the chain.
I love Nastia Liukin on Uneven bars! and Shawn Johnson. I loved to watch Svetlana Khorkina but her gymnastics career is over... But Nastia definitely

I agree on Alicia Sacramone, but i was really turned off by her reaction to her losses in Stuggart to Shawn Johnson and Cheng Fei (they were just better)
Ya I was disappointed to how Alicia Sacramone reacted to 2nd place. But nonetheless she is a power house and an amazing gymnast =p. But Shawn is also an amazing gymnast, but her floor music now doesn't suit her personality... =/
But ya He Kexin is also a great gymnast, going to be interesting to see who wins gold on bars in Bejing.
Nastia Liukin is my idol. She is just so - hm im not really sure how to put it. Fantastic =)
Even though shawn is the new hot girl in gymnastics, nastia is still my favourite. Like her, i have longer legs and arms than most people, but it makes all of beam and bars my best events. I'm not much of a tumbler. I just think that everything she does is amazing, and God gave her that talent, and she definitely gives the effort.
I also like Nastia a lot. Other than her one of my top favorites is Anna Pavlova. Their gymnastics is such so beautiful. :-)
I also like Dasha Joura, Stela Nistor, Sandra Izbasa, Anamaria Tamirjan and many others.
This topic has always been my question. Everytime I watch amazing skills from any athletes follow by their interviews, they become my favorite. So I can't really put a name. I guess I just love the sports and the athletes' performances so much it overshadows who's my favorite
My all time favourite gymnast is Dominique Moceanu. She was part of the famous Magnificent 7, and her achievements always amaze me. For my favourite active gymnasts, I'd go for Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin. After their stellar performance at the Beijing Olympics, I think their popularity has grown by a notch. Nastia Liukin has even had a cameo appearance in the movie Stick It.
SHAWN JOHNSON is my absolute FAVE gymanst there is and ever will be. she is so amazing, beautiful, talented, confident, strong, happy, AND MY HERO!

Mine too! The first time I ever watched gymnastics (and also the reason I wanted to start up) was the '96 Olympic Games, and Dominique Moceanu has always been my favorite. She's not a classic icon like Nadia, but I have a different reason to like her other than just "she's one of the greatest ever." I still have the little autobiography she wrote right before the games!
