Am I the only one who sees an unfair difference in the size of the women's international team size and the men's? The women only do 4 events but have 6 members. Wouldn't it be fairer since the men have 6 events they would have 8 members per team? Does that make sense to anyone else?
Team Size Change
OMG that is amazing, I was thinking exactly the same thing no joke =p. LIke if you take 4 (because girls gymnastics has 4 events) multiplied by 1.5 you get 6. So 6 people on the team for womens.
Now if you take 6 (because guys gymnastics you have 6 events) and mulitply that by 1.5 you get 9. So therefore you should have 9 people on the men's side of things
I think it is a great idea...especially with the advent of specialists to the sport.
I can understand wanting to have equality or fairness across both the men's side and women's side of the sport. I also think that this would be great for specialists and allow different teams to qualify, at the Olympics, from the 6-5-4 qualifying day to the 6-3-3 finals day because they can use guys who are stellar on only one event. But who would you go to to institute this change. I think the team size is a US Olympic Committee rule and thus would be very hard to change.
I think it would be awesome if more guys got to become Olympians. It is everyone's dream!
