Men's Olympic

I have to say I give the deepest respect to Paul Hamm for withdrawing from the Olympics.  He knows he is not healthy enough to compete, and he is man enough to admit it.   I'm not sure I could have made the same decision for myself.   I wanted to see him on that team and challenge Yang Wei for the gold just as much as everyone else, but I think the team competition is the most important.  Hopefully the committee will have sense enough to choose David Durante to fill his spot; we need an athlete in several events and Raj and Sasha are probably not the best fit.

I'm horribly, horribly biased because Dave Durante was my training partner for years and is my best friend, but I genuinely think he's the right fit. Raj and Sash are great gymnasts, but for this team, with Paul off PH and Rings become a huge problem.

Without Paul, the 3 up 3 count format for PH is Morgan, Joey, and Kevin Tan and for Rings is Kevin, Horton, and ????? - not ideal.

If you put in Sasha, Rings is still in trouble. If you put in Raj, PH is still in trouble. I think Dave is the right choice.

We'll see.
