I've never gotten grips before so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on ones to start out with.
Advice on first grips please?

Hey Jess - great question. I saw from your other posts that you're 19 (it's never too late!!) so you won't have the same issues that others might have.
All you should worry about is that you find grips that are the right size for your hands. I used Reisport grips for my whole career and loved them, but obviously others on the site like 10-0 and other grips.
They'll feel uncomfortable for a few days, but be patient and the leather should soften up for you and be a lot easier to use. Keep us posted on how things work out and let me know if you have any other questions!
for your first grips you really want to make sure they are comfortable!! when you go to bars ask your coach if they will spot you on some things so you can get used to them. and dont use them the whole time just use them on some simple skills. as you get used to them go can do more skills!! that is my advice and my grips work really well and i take them to all my competitions!! hope this helps you!!
